The Summilux-M 35 f/1.4 ASPH. impresses as a classic reportage focal length due to its versatility. Whether you want selective sharpness at close range, detailed landscape shots or high-contrast images even in difficult lighting conditions, this lens captures moments masterfully, recreates environments with natural-looking dimensions and adapts to the dynamics of the action taking place. Thanks to its compact design, it can go everywhere with you. Present, attentive, but never intrusive.
The Summilux-M 35 f/1.4 ASPH. offers a visibly improved bokeh compared to its predecessor model, in addition to its extended close focus distance and integrated lens hood. It now features eleven diaphragm blades instead of nine. The engineers have implemented all these innovations without ever compromising on the lens’s dimensions. The aim is to give you more options while maintaining the same compact format.
The Summilux-M 35 f/1.4 ASPH. is not only easy to handle, but also gets up close and personal. Namely as close as 40 centimetres – without compromising on setting accuracy. This is made possible by a double cam gear unit specially developed by Leica, which has almost doubled the rotation angle of the distance ring compared with the previous model, to 176°.
The Summilux-M 35 f/1.4 ASPH. has nine lenses in five assemblies, including an aspherical lens and several elements with anomalous partial dispersion. A floating element design ensures that its optical performance remains at the highest level even at shorter distances. Its close focus distance is 0.4 metres. The lens delivers impressive imaging performance over the entire distance range with a high level of detail, excellent sharpness and natural contrast. Even with its lens speed, it wins photography enthusiasts over due to its compact design and balanced handling.
